The rustic and warm feeling of this beautiful lodge will give any visitors a stay that will leave you dying to come back and visit again. Hodge Podge Lodge sleeps up to 14 guests and is a family-friendly location. There are 2 buildings that make up Hodge Podge Lodge. Newly remodeled and updated, you'll be sure to have all the comforts of home.

The main house of Hodge Podge Lodge offers 2 bedrooms with sleeping accommodations for 7. On the main level, there is a Full-size sleeper sofa, as well as a full-size bathroom. Both of the bedrooms are located on the upper level of the home. The first bedroom offers 2 Twin-size beds and an en suite half bathroom, while the second bedroom accommodates a Twin-size bed and a Full-size bed.

The barn is home to 2 additional bedrooms, both on the upper level of the barn. One bedroom offers a Queen-size bed and a Twin-size bed. The second bedroom has 2 Twin-size beds and a Full-size bed. There is also a full bathroom on the upper level along with two bedrooms for your convenience.

You can enjoy the Northwoods wildlife while sitting on the lake view deck in a beautiful cedar Adirondack chair, enjoying your morning coffee, or taking a walk through the lovely surrounding woods to start your day.

Jet skiing, boating, water skiing, tubing, and swimming- no matter the activity, Big Sand Lake is great for all water recreation, and an added bonus- fishing is amazing! You can catch musky, northern, bass, walleye, crappie, and panfish right off of the pier! Hodge Podge Lodge is bound to please, as great memories are just waiting to be made! Awesome time

First time since 2017 that all 3 of our children, their spouses and the grandbabies were all under one roof. The cabin/home was clean and gave us plenty of space, the barn was a great addition for our daughter with 3 children. The lake was beautiful - the area on the left side of the pier was sandy and shallow (about 3ft) so the kids could jump off the pier, wade, look for sea shells etc.... weather cooperated. The cabin felt warm and comfortable. Neighbors were very nice and gave us some background info on the original owners. Being approximately 2 1/2 miles to the Michigan border we were able to visit the Casino in Watersmeet - with which we were impressed. When our youngest grandson asked what you call where we were staying - We simply replied "God's Country" - because it is a bit of a rural area- not a lot of traffic or noise. The level frontage to the lake was great for the kids to play catch, football, etc.... also good for fires and smores. Our vacation turned out awesome .There were a few glitches with the internet/WIFI but personnel at Hiller were able to quickly help us correct the situation. The Sand Pub off of State Hwy 17 and Grosser Lane has excellent food - service was quick and courteous. Eagle River is about 16 miles away with a Pick-n-Save (Kroger) grocery store. We have rented from Hillers before and we have never been disappointed. We will definitely be a return.

Overall it was good, the place was nice and clean and what I expected. The only complaint I had was the water heater wasn't working in the main cabin so I called to inform Hiller's about it and it was never fixed. Didn't end up being a huge deal because the water heater worked in the other building so I didn't bother calling again.

The cabin was clean, relaxing and rustic just the way it should be. The lake was nice and clear, seen lots of wildlife like LOTS OF EAGLES!! Loved our stay.

The cabin was very rustic and had a lot of great character. The second sleeping area above the garage is nice for extra family or guests. A few things to be aware of with this property. There is no cell service inside the cabin and no Wi-Fi. In order to make a call or get data access for emails or maps I had to go out to the end of pier. Might not be a concern for some, but with small kids that was frustrating to me. Also, there is very limited parking and if the neighbors are at their cabin the road is filled as well. We were unable to park a medium sized fishing boat at this location based on the long road, tight drive, and limited space.

Fun In The Sun

We had a great week, the yard and lake area was perfect for little kids. The accommodations suited us perfectly, the rooms were clear and plenty of space to get some peace and quiet. We ate supper every night on the deck and later in the evening a camp fire. All of the kids caught some nice sized sunfish out on the lake and they made a great supper for all of us one night. The only thing that I would suggest is that the out side of the buildings could use some stain or paint.

Our family loves Big Sand Lake. We've been coming to this lake for over 20 years. This is our favorite place to stay. The updates are fantastic. We love the rustic look of the cabin, but the updates are even better.
